Classic simple buttercream cake with topper
These are a great choice if you want something a little simpler but also with a bit of personalisation and still a great tasting, freshly made cake. These cakes are available in vanilla only filled with either vanilla bean buttercream or vanilla bean buttercream and jam.

All you need to do is let us know a colour theme, message/name/age for the topper, and collection date. Easy peasy!

Allergens
Details of allergens are included next to the sponge and buttercream flavours. Please note that cakes are made in a commercial kitchen that handles the following allergens and therefore trace elements may be present in all products - WHEAT (GLUTEN), SOYA, MILK, EGGS, METABISULPHITES, PECAN NUTS, ALMOND NUTS, HAZELNUTS, PEANUTS. If you have a question regarding allergens or dietary requirements please email info@melkellycakesandbakes.com before making an online order.
Collections
Cakes can only be ordered for collection between Thursdays to Saturdays. The shop is closed on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We do not currently offer delivery for orders. Collection times are between 12noon and 4:30pm ( Thursday and Friday) and between 9am and 12noon (Saturday) on the date you have selected. Occasionally we may be out delivering wedding cakes on Saturdays and if so we will contact you to arrange a collection time. Please note the cake will be be ready to collect on the date you have selected, orders cannot be brought forward to an earlier date.
Cancellations
Please note that cancellations with less than seven days notice cannot be refunded. In these circumstances you can transfer the amount paid to a future order. Cancellations with more than seven days notice will be refunded minus a £15 cancellation fee.
Shelf-life
All cakes are made and prepared fresh. They are best consumed within three-days of collection. Leftover cake can be frozen for up to one month.
Transportation
Cakes are best transported flat in the boot or in the footwell. If held on a lap or placed on a car seat they are likely to be damaged in transit due to the angle at which the cake will be. When handling the cake , please hold the box from underneath, not the sides. If heavy, it may help to get someone to help you lift the cake from underneath, keeping it level at all times. Please ensure that the heating is turned off in the car when transporting the cake , especially if it is a buttercream cake. Cakes do not need to go in the fridge as this will only make the fondant go sticky/edible print colours will run. Buttercream cakes only need go into the fridge if the weather is warm otherwise they are fine left out of the fridge somewhere cool and dry.
Complaints
Every care and attention is put into in every order so any complaints are taken very seriously. I send photographs of cakes made before collection so please do let me know before collection if there is anything that you are not happy with as alterations can be made within reason. If a complaint is regarding the quality/integrity of the cake I would need the entire cake returned to me within 24 hours of collection so that I may investigate the nature of complaint and agree on, and if, a remedy is required. That said, if the cake care guidelines have not been followed then I can accept no responsibility for the cake once it has left my possession.
